When we landed at 4:00 p.m. we just had to look for people holding signs that has the Parthenon logo (cool!). They got us on a shuttle to the National Gaylord in National Harbor right on the Potomac.
Our room was BEAUTIFUL! We settled in and waited for our luggage before we got ready for our evening activities.
This is the sign that greeted us.
At 6:30 we got on a bus that took us to Mt. Vernon, George Washington's home.
We enjoyed the evening walking the grounds, touring his home, enjoying the view of the Potomac River, and had a nice dinner.
George and Martha greeted us at their front door. Our group had the place all to ourselves for the evening. When we toured George Washington's private office, Kim and I found ourselves alone with the guide and we had our own private history lesson. Quite a nice discussion:)
We weren't allowed to take photos inside the buildings or I would have had pages. This is a picture of Kim in the visitor's center.
When we arrived back to the hotel we found a note that a special gift was waiting for us at the registration desk.
When we picked it up it was a box with two water bottles and a ton of treats to take along on our excursion.
It was quite a day and we had another big day to look forward to.
